The system consists of two main components: the transmitter, which connects to the television or audio system, and the receiver, which is placed in close proximity to the hearing aid wearer. The system is very simple to set up and does not require complex installation to the room or trailing cords on the floor.
The transmitter is connected to the television or audio system via RCA jacks. It then picks up the sound and sends it to the receiver wirelessly using infra red technology. The receiver is presented in an attractive portable housing which can be placed on a table, chair or even the floor, providing the unit is within a distance of approximately 3 feet from the user. Sound is transmitted from the receiver as a magnetic field which connects to the telecoil in the hearing aid. The listener can adjust the volume to the required level via the hearing aid without increasing the sound level of the television itself.
